Petr Lébl is famous for his experimentalism and innovative approaches which are well perceivable in the visual stylisation of his directions. In Chekhov's Ivanov he tends to the creation of a complex stage shape whose external effects would be absolutely subordinated to the interactions between the characters.
The stage set (designed by himself under a pseudonyme), costumes and abandance of visual expression (for which he has been previously criticized) just like the dramatic actions create an admirably strong inner logic of the performance , structured in a precise mathematical way. The whole team of the Theatre On The Balustrade presented Chekhov as a dramatist with strong responsiveness to the absurdity and nightmares which trouble the life of modern people.

Petr Lébl (1965) was often declared as a phenomenon of the season. Since 1993 has been is the artistic director, director and stage designer of the Theatre On the Balustrade in Prague. He staged the following plays: T. Dorst´s Fernando Krapp Wrote Me A Letter (also presented at the festival Divadelná Nitra '93), J. A. Pitínský' s Little Room, Genet´s Maids, Stroupežnícký' s Our, Our Boasters, A. P. Chekhov's Seagull (awarded the Alfréd Radok Prize for the best staging of 1994, also presented at Divadelná Nitra '94), N. V. Gogol´s lnspector, and the spectacular chamber remake of the famous Cabaret, and others.
