Her Stepdaughter of Hers

The Klicpera Theatre, Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, 1996
Author: Gabriela Preissová
Directed by Vladimír Morávek

about the production

Her Stepdaughter. This village drama deals with the murder of a child of her single mother, her stepmother, who tries through this act to save her honour and to succeed in acquiring a bridegroom for her stepdaughter. Nevertheless, the director "fed up with wishy-washy common murder stories, as there are dozens of them in any other novel containing more blood than this one, slipped off with his sight behind the scenes of the drama. The more he stared at the rising whirl of his discovery, the more the dazzling idea occurred to him to reveal a classic play worn as an amulet around the neck of its author. " (V. Morávek)
